So, I have another friend. She’s left the workaday world and headed off on an international adventure. This is exciting, even exhilarating, because the potentials seem endless. Anything, even her heartfelt desire, just might be possible.
But it also can be scary. So scary that in these circumstances we are all tempted to consider, as my friend is, returning to circumstances (in this case, a job) similar to those we have just mustered the courage to leave. (more…)
The husband of a friend of mine walked out a few years ago. My friend struggled with all the obvious emotions – shock, anger, resentment, hurt, betrayal – but like most mothers I know, she never let any of this to distract her from her commitment to her children.
No matter how much was required of her, no matter how uneven the division of labour between her and their children’s father, she continued to do whatever it took to ensure her children were safe, happy and thriving. She is not a martyr or a moaner. She does it all gladly and with an open heart because, as she says, her children are her passion. (more…)
These last few years I have learned the value of things unseen. Quantum physics has proved that the space between objects is not, as first thought by scientists, empty, but is filled with energy vibrating at myriad frequencies not always perceivable by our five senses. I have come to learn, and experience, something of what exists in that space between objects.
Not only is space filled with energy, but once we realize the different forms that energy can take when it vibrates at different frequencies, we can begin to tap into the infinite field of possibilities that quantum physics tells us enfolds our material world. Dannion Brinkley was struck by lightning – twice. Apparently after the first time he didn’t listen to, or obey, the powers that be over/up there, so they socked it to him again, with both fists. After this second near-death experience, and a protracted recovery in hospital he got the message. He now knows his calling – or should I say yelling!
I recently heard him speak to a crowd of the converted. He has a large following in whom he seems to inspire awe and cheering. His southern drawl at what seemed like triple digit decibels just fueled their evangelical fire and it quickly descended into a mutual scream fest. (more…)
The only things that are collapsing are those that are unsustainable.
This was the observation made by Gregg Braden at a lecture he gave in San Francisco on the weekend. Speaking to the enormous changes and turmoil that the earth, its people, and its institutions and societies are experiencing, he argues that we are at the end of what he calls a Great World Age.
